Marcus Loane House is home to 119 aged care residents. New renovations to the entry area have provided a welcoming foyer, extensive seating spaces and a modern café for residents and visitors to enjoy a resort like experience.

Our opportunity:

Working with the Residential Manager, you will ensure that residents’ clinical and health outcomes are met and understood by overseeing the activities of our clinical team.

You will also ensure the clinical excellence in the home, that all Anglicare policies, procedures and practises are followed and that clinical standards are continually improved. Moreover, you will ensure that a person-centred approach is taken to resident care.

Our ideal candidate will be a resilient, highly organised clinical expert with knowledge of ACFI and aged care accreditation standards. They will be motivational, leading with dignity and grace, and a team orientated people manager.

Key responsibilities:

• Establishing comprehensive communication between the multidisciplinary team within the facility and staff
• Ensuring ACFI is optimised and suitable residents are admitted appropriately
• Working closely with families, ensuring that they are fully informed about clinical issues relating to their relative
• Contributing to the effective functioning of the team through mentoring staff and sharing clinical knowledge and skills.

Skills and experience:

• Current nursing registration with AHPRA
• Leadership experience essential, preferably as a Care Manager within Aged care
• Strong clinical knowledge including working knowledge of ACFI essential
• Demonstrated knowledge of aged care accreditation standards essential
• A ‘hands on’ approach to ensuring quality clinical care
• The ability to supervise, delegate and work as part of a team
• A commitment to the Christian values of Anglicare
• Post graduate study in relevant discipline/s (geriatrics, dementia, palliative care) highly desirable

Qualifications and experience:

  • Post graduate studies in Dementia Care
  • Registered Nurse with 4-5 years postgraduate experience
  • Experience in working in a community services environment or as a dementia services consultant (desirable).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the clinical presentations and complex comorbidities of people with dementia in early to late and palliative stages of dementia.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of nursing clinical care assessment and practices in care of people with dementia.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan, implement and evaluate care and support plans for people with dementia with complex care needs.
