About the role:
We are seeking kind-hearted, people who want to connect with and make a difference in the lives of older people living in the community. Our Care Workers work block shift hours on a permanent part-time basis assisting Anglicare’s Retirement Living Residents to live well and independently. Your role will be to visit residents in their homes to offer assistance with their day to day needs through the promotion of independence and choice.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with domestic duties and household tasks including washing, ironing, vacuuming, dusting
- Assisting with the preparation and cooking of meals with individual residents and groups
- Assisting with social support individually and in group settings and encouraging older people to engage in social activities
- Assisting with personal care including showering, dressing, grooming
- Providing Transport – appointments, shopping and social outings
- Respite – supporting an older person while family carers take a break in the person’s home and/or at our overnight respite cottage
About you:
To be successful in this role you will understand the importance of maintaining compliance with standards, promote the core values of Anglicare Sydney and adhere to organisational policies and procedures that underpin the support offered to older people to live well at home.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Support Worker in Home Care or Disability (desirable)
- A Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home, and Community) (or willingness to obtain)
- Hold a valid AU Drivers Licence (desirable)
- Current accredited First Aid and CPR certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Vaccinated against COVID and Flu highly recommended
- A reliable vehicle to transport residents to appointments - NSW C Class Motor Vehicle (desirable) with minimum Third Party Vehicle Insurance
- Basic computer and smartphone working knowledge
